Despite a market under pressure, the wholesale group intensifies its activities within energy-efficient solutions that can counteract climate changes.

Despite the activity level on Solar’s primary markets dropping over the year, the group has managed to deliver positive results and a strong cash flow. Thus, Solar’s revenue for the first three quarters of the year was € 1,051.5m and EBITA (earnings before interest, tax and amortisation) was € 24.7m. Revenue for the third quarter was € 333.7m, and EBITA was € 9.6m.

As 30 to 40% of the total energy consumption derives from buildings, Solar expects the market for energy-efficient solutions that meet the coming years’ official requirements and market wants in terms of energy and climate to grow significantly.
Therefore, the wholesale group has intensified its activities in 2009 within the business concept Blue Energy. In close collaboration with the strategic suppliers, Solar, which is represented in eight European countries, gathers the energy-efficient solutions and, thereby, provides the contractors with an opportunity to offer optimum solutions for new building as well as renovation projects. Solar has already delivered several Blue Energy solutions in 2009. A new focus area within energy is the knowledge centre Solar Explorium in Vejen. In Explorium, Solar Danmark A/S demonstrates the newest technology and energy-efficient solutions in cooperation with the strategic suppliers and shows how green energy in combination with intelligent solutions can halve the energy consumption in buildings and thereby reduce CO2 emissions significantly and, at the same time, increase comfort. Solar Explorium demonstrates energy control in practice and addresses contractors, advisors, suppliers and manufacturers.

For 2009, Solar now expects revenue between € 1,400m and € 1,420m and EBITA between € 32m and € 36m.
