This year, Solar chooses to look beyond these difficult times and focus more on future winnings than making it through the current financial crisis. The group will invest close to DKK 300 million in an extensive 3-year change project that will streamline the group's business processes and bring about even better coherence and overview between subsidiaries and the group headquarters in Kolding, Denmark.
Solar has chosen to see this project through even though Solar's primary markets, i.e. industry and the construction industry, have both seen a decrease in activities which caused the group to make certain adjustments in the beginning of the year.
- Solar has put together a team of 65 persons with 25 coming from Solar's own ranks, 15 new employees and 25 external consultants from Solar's partners. All in all, these persons represent 12 nationalities, and they will implement our new business processes at 175 addresses around Northern Europe over the next three years, says Corporate IT Director CIO Flemming Koch, Solar.
This change project called "Solar 8000" will affect all 3,000 Solar employees in the subsidiaries in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland and the Faroes.
The project scope covers the establishment of
- group-standardised business processes
- one IT platform in all enterprises
- one management frame of reference
- harmonised data and joint group databases.
Currently, Solar has some 200 major and minor IT systems which require separate support and updates, but over the next 3-4 years, these will be replaced by one system environment based on SAP.
