Solar and the charging company Wattif are together in the process of electrifying Sweden. Customers include the camping giant First Camp, which will initially install charging stations at 15 campsites around the country.
With 72 campsites, First Camp is Scandinavia's largest camping operator. They attract hundreds of thousands of tourists every year, and among the guests there is a strong growing trend – they want to be able to charge their cars.
- There is a strong demand from our guests to be able to charge electric cars. More and more people are driving electric cars – and this is particularly evident at the facilities where we have a lot of Norwegian guests. They are a few years ahead in electrification, says Victor Lind, property manager at First Camp.
Collaboration with Wattif
To meet the increasing demand for electric car charging, First Camp turned to Solar, who were already their partner when it comes to the delivery of installation materials. Through Solar, First Camp then came into contact with Wattif, who specialises in building charging stations for various forms of facilities.
The special thing about Wattif is that they offer several different types of solutions, where the most popular means that Wattif covers all costs related to purchase, installation and operation. Wattif also sells the charging itself via its own app, and then pays a commission to the property owner.
- We met several players in the market, but no one else could match this offer. It has been a very smooth solution for us. We don't have to make any investments, or take any running costs – but we get a very good service that creates great value for our guests, says Victor Lind.
Scaling in stages
In a first phase, First Camp is installing charging stations from Charge Amps at 15 facilities around Sweden, but they are already looking at expanding to more facilities in a second phase.
First Camp is also not alone in appreciating Wattif's concept; Since the company started three years ago, it has installed over 46,000 charging points in the Nordic region.
- It goes very fast, which is great. It is clear that society has a very great need to be able to charge electric cars in more places. It can be anything from office properties and homes to retail spaces and garages, says Nicklas Von Schrenk, Sales Manager at Wattif.
Efficient logistics
To be able to install over 15,000 charging points a year, well-functioning logistics are required, which is why Wattif works closely with Solar.
- Solar is a good partner to have in this. They are driven and on their toes, and have good customer relationships. This means that they can connect parties to solve needs, as in the case of First Camp, says Nicklas Von Schrenk, and continues:
- Of course, it is also important that Solar offers the right products and ensures that they are delivered in the right way. When we assemble our chargers, we get ready-made deliveries with exactly the right products for each specific installation. It saves a lot of time and allows us to be efficient on site.
At Solar, we are also pleased with the collaboration and the opportunity to contribute to the green transition. We are grateful for the confidence to be part of this important investment, which makes a big difference for the camping guests. This is a fine example of how smoothly electrification can go if you have good collaborations and strive towards the same goal.
